Week 10 - Business Model Canvas

For this week, we were tasked to slowly make our business model canvas based on the data that we collected from the previous activities. But before we make our BMC let us first understand the purpose behind the BMC. The business model is all about how a company creates value for itself while delivering products and services for customers. It must be consistent in the value that it creates in delivering products and services and also can handle the increasing number of customers. The Business Model Canvas comprises nine blocks that will help keep track of our Business Model progress. The nine blocks are value proposition, customer relationship, customer segments, channels, revenue streams, key resources, cost structure, key activities, key partners. In creating our Business Model Canvas, what we did first was fill in the Value Proposition block since we have already made this task the previous week. The next thing we did was to identify our customer segments. The customer segments that ...

WEEK 8 - Pitch Deck Presentation

It's presentation day and all the teams are preparing for their pitch deck presentation slides. The presentation started a little late because we thought the time for the presentation would start at one in the afternoon. But there was a mistake in the schedule, instead of one in the afternoon, we already started at two-thirty. While waiting for the presentation, I review my slides and my script making sure that there are no spelling mistakes during my presentation. The presentation schedule came and we were the first group to present. Although none of my teammates appeared as I presented my slides, it did not bother me and I still went on with the presentation. Everything went well. I was able to say what I have to say about my slides and all the information I needed to share without going beyond the time limit of five minutes. After the presentation comes to the deliberation of my pitch deck. I was confident enough that I did almost the correct presentation but I was wrong. There...

WEEK 7 - Making of the Pitch Deck

For this week we have been very busy preparing for our midterm examination and completing midterm projects and for this subject Technopreneurship 101 our midterm exam or project will be pitching our idea to our instructor. This pitching would be a culmination of all the data that we have gathered starting from the interviews that we have made from the first week down to the sixth week which is customer and market validation. In making the pitch deck, only a summary of the data is to be presented since the allotted time for the presentation is only limited to five minutes. It was a tough task to condense all information that we gathered into a five-minute presentation composed of ten slides at maximum. Eventually, I was able to select only the important data to present thanks to the guidance of our instructor in formulating our pitch deck. Aside from what our instructors have thought I have also done some research on how to pitch an idea for a startup. I have found out that there a...

WEEK 6 - Customer and Market Validation

For this week we have conducted customer and market validation since we are done making our value proposition which determines who customers are and what solutions our product can offer to them. With customer and market validation based on what I have understood from the lectures are concepts and methods in which we can determine how much is the demand for our product. It tries to validate our hypothesis through research, gathering of data and testing them if they are correct. In order to validate our ideas, we have conducted more interviews, asking questions in such a way that it captures the validity of our product like for example questions like if this certain product exists would they buy it? Why or why not? Introducing this kind of question to our respondents gives us an opportunity to spot early adopters of our project. They will be the one to test our app idea and their feedback is highly valuable.  Aside from the interviews that we have made with our respondents, we have a...

Week 5 - Value Proposition

For this week we have finalized our idea and have collected an ample amount of interviews from various respondents. The data collection process was tedious because we have a limited number of participants, some of their answers are not valid for our value proposition. But eventually, after talking to users we were able to find the right amount of respondents that will finalize our idea and build our value proposition. The data that we have collected from our respondents will be used to create our value proposition. Value proposition as discussed by the Techno101 lecturers is an idea, belief, or message that is base on what value can a customer get from using our product. It is a simple statement that summarizes why a customer would choose our product or services over the others. It addresses what solution our product will be offering to alleviate customer problems. To create a value proposition, I will be using a tool called Value Proposition Canvas. This tool was developed by Ale...

WEEK 4 - Talking to Users and Value Hypothesis

For this week, we continue looking for respondents for our ideas. We are doing this so that we can collect enough data to support our ideas because later on, we will pick one idea that will represent our team and this idea needs to be tested for relevance among our targeted audience. It would be hard to push an idea if there is no market for it or if the idea does not seem to solve an actual problem. As of now, we have gathered enough respondents but still, we continue looking for other participants for our ideas. After these interviews is a collection of their responses and then makes a hypothesis out of their responses. To make a hypothesis there is this thing called 'testing and learning cards' which was introduced during the week four lecture courtesy of the Center for Entrepreneur and Technology Facebook page. Knowing this makes it easier to create hypotheses just by completing the given sentences. This gives us a clear understanding of what our goals are, what the user w...

WEEK 3 - First Phase of Interview

For this week, we were instructed to conduct our very first interview for our startup ideas. Each idea that we have generated, based on the micro screening matrix that we created earlier, requires at least five respondents to interview. The interview can only be done online as face-to-face interactions are still prohibited due to the pandemic that is still going on. Aside from the interview being done online, there are also guidelines on how the questions are being constructed to get a quality response from our respondents. The questions must be constructed in a way that does not answer with just a yes or no. Lastly, we were also told to have an introduction before approaching some for an interview as a sign of courtesy. We should also be wary of the time and do not forget to say thank you after the interview is done. Each member is assigned a startup idea and then interviews at least five people. Once they are done with the interview, I will then collect the answers of the respondents...
