WEEK 3 - First Phase of Interview
For this week, we were instructed to conduct our very first interview for our startup ideas. Each idea that we have generated, based on the micro screening matrix that we created earlier, requires at least five respondents to interview. The interview can only be done online as face-to-face interactions are still prohibited due to the pandemic that is still going on. Aside from the interview being done online, there are also guidelines on how the questions are being constructed to get a quality response from our respondents. The questions must be constructed in a way that does not answer with just a yes or no. Lastly, we were also told to have an introduction before approaching some for an interview as a sign of courtesy. We should also be wary of the time and do not forget to say thank you after the interview is done.
Each member is assigned a startup idea and then interviews at least five people. Once they are done with the interview, I will then collect the answers of the respondents and then make a hypothesis out of the said data. I thought the task was simple but I was wrong. Formulating questions to suit our startup ideas at the same time getting valuable information was quite a challenge. Not only that, most of our respondents do not quite understand the questions. The availability of respondents also prove to be a challenge, as reported by my team members. They were not able to conduct interviews because the respondents are busy or they are not interested.
To solve these issues, I have restructured the questions so that the respondents would understand and effectively give an answer that is needed for our analysis. Regarding the lack of respondents, we were able to gather the required amount of respondents after searching through Facebook groups and other social media platforms.
