WEEK 14 - Lecture Series and Update

For this week we were tasked to watch another lecture series from the Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology. The topic for this week's lecture series was all about Corporate and Strategic Entrepreneurship. The first speaker for this lecture is Ms. Luchi C. Flores. She is a country representative of Passerelles numériques, Philippines. It is a French Non-governmental organization created in 2005 in Cambodia. The first part of her discussion talks about known corporations both here and abroad. She also talked about the strategy and innovations done to their products. She then proceeds to discuss "strategic entrepreneurship".

In strategic entrepreneurship, you only keep in mind two things, identifying opportunities through innovation and managing the resources and innovation efforts. Corporate and Strategic entrepreneurship does not necessarily mean putting something together and building a new business out of it because it would likely fail but instead looking into activities such as opportunity seeking, innovative seeking, and innovative activities in order to achieve sustainable competitive advantages. However only a few corporate entities engage in strategic entrepreneurship. Due to the fact that there are risks involved like corporate structure or values, financial investments, resource management, and VUCA which stand for volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity. It is understandable that corporate entities do not want to take risks especially at this time of the year where there is a pandemic going on, there is full of uncertainty as of this moment.
